basket case

Hey There S&C Readers!

We have fallen. Fallen in love (and hard) that is with Blue Print, a Dallas home furnishings store. The store (which, may we add, is situated in a charming old house - the crown molding alone is enough to put you in a tailspin) is an eclectic mix of furniture, antiques, art and accessories with many of the pieces having been carefully selected by the owners during European travels. Now, we could go on for DAYS  about the items we fell in love with or the appreciation we have for the incredibly talented artists that showcase available work on the Blue Print walls (its as if you've entered a flipping art gallery!) but we wont as we encourage you to check it out for yourself or online at blueprintstore.com. But, we will leave you with one take-away. While perusing the store we noticed an assortment of beautifully woven sea grass baskets of different colors, shapes and sizes. There was a pair of pale pink baskets sitting beside a small demilune table - they were the perfect compliment to the pink ceramic lamps in the adjacent room (displaying a splash of color in baskets to tie it all together, genius!). We were instantly inspired and hoped to find online resources for more economical options (we didn't say Blue Print was cheap ;)). Success! We found a number of really great online options - see below. Not only can baskets add color, interest and texture to a room they also serve as smart storage for throw pillows, blankets, magazines or firewood. They also conform to many different style aesthetics as demonstrated in the photos below.

Thanks for reading and have a fabulous weekend!

c h a p t e r s :: desk accessories + etsy

Happy Thursday S&C Readers!

Just one more work day until the weekend....hang in there. Speaking of work (and assuming you have a desk at work and/or home) what does your desk say about you? Have you ever stopped to ask yourself that question? We hadn't. But, if asked, we hope it would say that we're cool, calm and collected. And we're not talking the 'collected' type as in 'not perturbed or distracted' but rather the 'in possession of unique, one-of-a-kind vintage finds' type (we totally just gave the word new meaning). And what better place than your desk (if you're anything like us, you spend HOURS at your desk each week) to adorn with objects that speak to you and provide inspiration. Whether its a funky brass sculpture, a simple silver dish or a beautiful picture frame with a family photo, find pieces that showcase your personality and bring interest. So please people...don't neglect your desk. That goes for us at c h a p t e r s too...we need to step it up a bit!

We scoured Etsy to find a number of rock star desk accessories that could be yours, see below. We've also pulled interior design images that are wonderful representations of well collected desks.

Thanks for reading and have a fabulous weekend!!

room envy

Room envy round-up of the week.  All neutral minus the green dining chairs but what I really love in that photo is the lindsey adelman chandelier. I have been dying to do a shiny wall; black or dark navy.  Weekend project? :)

not so mellow yellow

Hello S&C Readers!

We were graciously asked by S&C (who shares our love for vintage finds) to introduce our new Etsy store 'c h a p t e r s'  to the S&C readers! Clearly, we jumped at the opportunity. And to make the deal even sweeter,  c h a p t e r s is going to begin a weekly contribution to the S&C blog! Thank you Kelly!! Most of our blog entries  will revolve around our passion (who are we kidding, its an obsession) for home design. For our first entry, we'll be discussing the color 'yellow' and the many ways it can be applied into your home.

It's hard to characterize the color yellow. From shades that evoke playfulness to those that evoke sophistication, this color is extremely versatile as it works for essentially any design aesthetic and for that, we LOVE all things yellow! Not to mention yellow reminds us of warm spring days, days we're longing for during the cold, gray winter months.

Make a simple attempt at yellow by incorporating a throw pillow or vase into your decor. Or for those risk takers out there, make a bold statement by painting an existing piece of furniture. Either way, we think yellow may just be that extra element of  'oomph' we've all been looking for!

Thank you for reading - we'll see you next Thursday!

modern traditional in fort worth

images MLS + DMAGAZINE

I have had these home photos in my archives since a friend of mine showed it to me last year while it was on the market.  I love the decor, the finishes, and the attention to detail.  How fantastic are the lucite banisters with brass hardware?  I wish I could have moved right in!
